Enlightenment over Eggs
As I sit here, poised to savor a beautifully arranged plate of perfectly poached eggs, tranquility washes over me. The room is calm, the rain has paused, and I’m filled with happiness.
However, a sudden memory triggers my anxiety—a conversation I had with my mom during my morning walk about the brewing chaos in U.S.-Canada trade agreements. As I let my mind wander, I can feel my anxiety escalating, conjuring images of heated discussions with friends and family. The more I dwell on these thoughts, the angrier and more frightened I become, with cortisol surging through my system.
In an instant, I catch myself and think, “What just happened?” My reality is simply enjoying this peaceful moment with my delicious meal. It hits me how absurd this spiral of anxiety is, and I can’t help but laugh. I realize that all of my training and introspection have led me to this enlightening moment. Now I have to ask myself: how can I hold onto this clarity? The laughter continues as I picture Buddha sitting under the Bodhi tree, embodying his realization.
This experience is truly liberating; I’m slowly breaking free from the confines of my own mind. I’ve taken a meaningful step toward reclaiming my peace and sanity. Now, it’s about practicing this shift over and over again.
I hope my journey inspires you to recognize your thoughts and make that simple yet powerful shift back to a place of calm and belonging. Take that step; you deserve it!
